Cold Water, Warm Conversations

A social evening for swimmers, by swimmers

As the water temperatures begin to drop, are you wondering what winter swimming is really like?

Join us for a relaxed and informal evening where swimmers can come together to share experiences, ask questions and learn from one another.

Whether you've already experienced a winter swim or you're wondering if you could take the plunge this year, this is an opportunity to hear honest, practical advice from people who have been there.

We’ll chat about:

What does cold water actually feel like?
Hear about those first few seconds, how your body responds and what you can expect as the temperatures fall.

Managing the cold
How experienced swimmers prepare, enter the water, recognise how they're feeling and warm up afterwards.

What kit do I really need?
Wetsuits, gloves, boots, hats, changing robes, warm layers and all those little things that can make a winter swim much more comfortable.

The warm-up afterwards
What works, what doesn't, and why getting warm again is such an important part of the experience.

Real experiences from real swimmers
Everyone has a different experience of cold water. Come and share what you've learned – the good, the bad and the "what was I thinking?" moments!

Finding your winter swimming buddies
Meet other swimmers who are planning to continue through the colder months and find some support for those first winter swims.

Most importantly… there are no silly questions!

Come along if you're:

Curious about trying colder-water swimming
Nervous about your first winter
Already swimming through the winter
An experienced cold-water swimmer with tips to share
Looking for swimming buddies and a bit of extra confidence

No experience necessary – just come along, have a chat and learn from the swimming community.

2-hour social evening | Informal & friendly | Bring your questions!
